What Is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy can be useful for moving past trauma, confidence building, mindset, achieving goals such as weight loss, fitness, smoking cessation and phobia recovery.

Our minds start out as pure innocence and we develop patterns of beliefs through our experiences and thoughts. Our minds are primarily two parts – the conscious mind, our free will and goal setter, the other is the subconscious mind which is the vault of all experiences even pre-verbal. 

The job of the subconscious is to keep us alive, and it has done a perfect job so far based on that criteria. However, as we grow our goals and views change on the conscious level and we seek to achieve something new. Often, we find that we sabotage the success or revert back to old habits through thinking “I can’t do that”, “I’m not good enough”,“who do you think you are?” – that is the subconscious mind in action.

Hypnotherapy techniques support the subconscious and the conscious mind to work as a team removing barriers to the goal. 

The subconscious mind runs the show 90-95% of the time without us even being consciously aware of it. That is not to say that the subconscious is working against us. On the contrary, its sole purpose is to keep us alive. It is the beliefs formed that were helpful when we were younger may not be appropriate now. Our subconscious is not interested in our dreams and aspirations. It is only interested in the past and keeping us alive. Hypnotherapy supports these two parts of us to get on the same team.

It can help a myriad of conditions such as managing IBS symptoms through to easing the anxiety of going to the dentist or getting a vaccination. Working in collaboration with lead medical teams it can also be helpful for treatment support such as eating disorder recovery, or undergoing chemotherapyand pain relief.
